A slice of Cake
After a few months of planning, a few sleepless nights and more emails than I care to remember, the first Cake event happened last Thursday night, and it went pretty well I’m happy to say.
A sell-out 60-strong crowd of creatives, designers and entrepreneurs gathered together at event sponsor Loc8me’s Loughborough office for an evening of inspiring and insightful talks delivered by Nick Bygate from MMT Digital, Ed Williams of Candy Kittens and Liam Doolan the co-founder of Comb. Mixed in with the speakers was a chance for local business owners, entrepreneurs and creative to network and share their knowledge with like-minded people.
If you are reading this and did pop along on Thursday, thank you so much for coming and supporting the event, I was sure there was a strong entrepreneurial and creative community in Loughborough and the event confirmed my suspicions.
The event wouldn’t have happened without the support of a fair few friends who pitched in and of course our wonderful sponsors Heart Internet, Loc8me, Peter, Jigsaw24, 5or6 and local business sponsor Legacy Training who paid for the venue, food and drinks.
Now the dust has settled I’m feeling rather proud of the first event, yet nowhere near content. I’m glad the event went well and the feedback so far has been great, yet I’m sure we can do better. So watch this space.
The next event is scheduled for Thursday 18th June with the guest speakers to be announced via the @cakemeetup twitter feed, or you can find out more about the events on the website: cakemeetup.co.uk
